Cultural Brokers Resilience Program

What are Cultural Brokers?

Cultural Brokers are members in our community who are bridges, connector or mediators between groups or people with different cultural contexts with the purpose of reducing conflict or producing change (Jezewski, 1990). Cultural brokers are defined as the person to go to, who advocates for individuals and groups.

Cultural Brokers typically possess knowledge of two or more cultures, which enable them to help diverse community members navigate systems and resources to access services while also providing input on how to meet the needs of our communities.
